Derek M. Wells, K.C., Counsel

Derek graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1972; and, after articling with Stewart McKelvey & Covert in Halifax, and Ralph Hennigar in Chester, he joined Ralph as a partner in 1973 at the law firm now known as Chester Law.  Derek is the former solicitor for the Municipality of Chester and is a former Member of Parliament and Municipal Councillor. Designated as King’s Counsel (K.C.) in 1992, he also served as a member of the Bar Council.  His primary areas of practice include Real Estate, Wills and Estates. 

Derek grew up in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. He has been actively involved in many local community groups.  With six children and thirteen grandchildren, Derek and his wife Alison, enjoy time spent with their large family and friends.  He is an avid golf enthusiast and member of the Chester Golf Club, and is also a member of ‘The Studio Singers’ and ‘Dirty Dougie and the Divine Dandies’.
